Dutch steel luxe motor barge for sale and ready to move onto. This stunning historic barge was built in Meppel in the Netherlands in1925 as a cargo barge. And was owned by a company in Amsterdam and was a service for over twenty years till 1948. When she was altered to a cruising lux barge that you see today . The barge has been lovingly restored and we have lived on her very comfortable and happy even in the winter months as many ask the question !! Very warm and comfortable. We are selling due to relocating to the North East. The refit throughout has been completed with a modern open plan feel but still allowing identification of the living room and combined dining area. The kitchen is situated in the wheelhouse which has a built in gas cooker fridge and washing machine. The splash back tiles are bespoke ceramic mosaic tiles. The original oak flooring remains under the more modern dark chalk grey laminate flooring. The master bedroom is in the rear cabin and has oak flooring and large wardrobe and led down lights there are double glazing windows in the bedroom which were specifically made and designed by a local glazier to fit in with the tradition of the Dutch barge. We only the one bedroom on board but have a easy bed that goes up in the living room and a screen for the hallway to give privacy for guests. Forward from the wheelhouse via a small hallway is the bathroom and dinning/living room. The bathroom comprising a corner bath washstand and toilet with stone tile flooring. The large dinning room/living room has built in shelving and cupboards and has solid white oak flooring and led down lighting, there is also an air conditioning unit with in the bow lounge storage area. Outer deck the bow area has ample space for alfresco dinning on those lovely summer evenings with an area large enough for outside table and chairs, bar b q and many pots for beautiful summer flower colour. Also has the hatchway to the front hold and chain room. The heating and hot water is by a Worcester combi boiler less than four years old and still under warranty. The vessel is moored on a residential mooring near Rochester in Kent. With very easy close links to the A2 from the marina so direct access to the M20, M25 and Dartford Crossing. A very good price for a lovingly restored affordable home in the South East.

Construction

The origanal hull was built in riveted 6mm Dutch steel in 1925 and was doubled to water line twelve years ago in 6mm dutch steel. On her last survey her minium thinkness was 5.6m. topside the mooring bollard, deck plate. rudder head inspection cover have lovingly been replaced. The redundent exhaust running down the side of the rear cabin has been removed and steel capped. And whole topside was then cleaned back to the steel and painted in jotun epoxy paint.
